The History of ITS Logistics
A supply chain leader across North America
Excellence is in our DNA and has been since day one. Our founders started ITS Logistics as a company built on strong family values— respect, integrity, and compassion. We are committed to working hard for each other, our clients, and our communities.
The company was founded on the vision to be a full-service logistics provider based on strong family values and a customer-first approach. The company started with a small warehouse, two trucks, and two drivers.
ITS Logistics moved into a 40,000 sq ft distribution and fulfillment space (half of a football field), signed its first dedicated customers, and became a $1M company in its first full year.
ITS grew its fleet to 12 trucks, added 15 drivers, and expanded its distribution space by 27,000 sq ft.
Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, and ITS played a key role in the recovery effort—transporting water, food, and clothing to affected areas. This same year, ITS added light manufacturing and dedicated one-way trucking, hired its first three sales positions, and grew to 40 trucks.
The Great Recession hit, and ITS came together as a team, managing to get through without laying off a single person.
ITS strategically launched its freight brokerage division spawned from a fleet mindset, ensuring it upheld the same standard of excellence. This set the stage for aggressive growth that would propel ITS into becoming a top 20 national transportation provider.
ITS moved into the up-and-coming area of downtown Reno, less than a mile from the University of Nevada and at the edge of the popular Midtown district. This would later become the company’s international headquarters.
ITS made heavy investments in technology and in-house development, establishing a philosophy of empowering people through innovation. The company more than doubled the amount of development talent and launched several proprietary systems.
With historic port congestion and supply chain disruption caused by COVID-19, ITS thrived in delivering solutions to complex supply chain challenges, saving their customers tens of millions of dollars in accessorial fees and becoming a leader in drayage and intermodal.
ITS expanded into Whitestown, IN, bringing its distribution footprint to more than 1 million sq ft (17.36 football fields) and achieving two-day reach to 96% of the US population. ITS’s first two drivers also celebrated more than 20 years of service with over 2M safe miles (roughly 4 round trips to the moon) under their belt.
ITS advanced to #11 in drayage and intermodal and #23 in asset-lite transportation, expanded its Indianapolis campus to 1.3 million sq ft, and built a 1.1 million sq ft facility in Dallas-Fort Worth—bringing its US footprint to 3.7 million sq ft (64 football fields). It also funded a new Supply Chain & Logistics Management program at University of Nevada, Reno.
ITS continued its investment in technology, data security, and infrastructure—recruiting a new wave of industry-leading tech talent, hiring a Chief Information Security Officer, opening an office in Chennai, India, and launching the Tech Innovation Center in Walnut Creek, CA. This led to the ground-breaking release of the container management and visibility platform, ContainerAI.
ITS expanded its service lines to include final mile and managed solutions, grew its nationwide trailer count to nearly 3,000 trailers, and opened the Fort Worth, TX Center. ITS also further invested in technology, upgrading its WMS to Softeon and launching its proprietary TMS, which became the sole platform for all loads managed by ITS.
